Tony Delk / Vocals & Keyboards

I grew up in Portland, Texas and was raised in the Church.  I’ve always been a music lover and I’ve always wanted to be a part of making music.  I gave my heart to the lord through baptism when I was at church camp at about the age of 12.  I started messing around on the piano a when I was bout 13 or so.  It was more of a hobby at first but that would change.

My interest in music would grow and, to my surprise, I started developing simple songs of my own.  I tried to model most of my stuff after the groups Depeche Mode and Yanni but nothing ever really seemed to work 100%.  I knew I wanted to do Christian music but I had only heard the Christian vocal group Acappella at that point.  I didn't really know of any other type of Christian music so I wasn't sure how to get the ball rolling by way of a Christian band.

As an adult, after having the troubles of life consume me for a few years, I would find myself living in Denver, Colorado with my beautiful wife and two wonderful daughters. Shortly after moving to Colorado, God blessed me with the meeting of several Christian musicians.  I was introduced to a new world in Christian music and that pretty much got my walk with God recharged.  Being inspired by the new music and reborn faith, I decided to pull out the keyboard and try my hand at writing music one last time.  The only difference, is this time I asked God to show me if this was something I needed to be doing.  I knew music was a calling but it was always ME trying to make it happen.  This time, I let go and let God.  Half an hour later, one of the most beautiful songs I've ever written was born.  It's called Calling Out.  I decided to let one of my new friends hear it and that became the magical, "let's make a band" moment.  We called ourselves, “Eye To Eye.”

Several people came and went in the years of, “Eye To Eye.”  People I will always hold dear in my heart.  Eventually, the band would reach a point where it consisted of nothing more than Greg and I.  We were pretty discouraged, and had thoughts of giving up entirely.  After a few weeks of uncertainty, we were blessed to meet the people who helped get things going again.  Some of whom helped me to spread my wings vocally and find my voice.  Along the way we decided to re-identify ourselves with a new band name.  We went with the name "Of David".  It seemed strange at first but it grew on us and we realized that it really did speak to who we are.  In biblical days, David had a huge hand in the start of organized musical worship.  Not to mention, he was a musician himself.  We want to continue that new worship in a modern sense and we want to give praise to God through song.

People continued to come into and part ways with Of David until recently.  Now, finally, we are a complete and one minded band with the members Hed, Steve, Greg and myself.  We have a huge heart for what we're doing and a new found direction and style that we're excited to share.  No only do we want to play for Christians, but we want to reach out into places where there may be people that would possibly never set foot into a church.  In doing so, we only pray that our music can be a blessing to everyone.

Tony
